- The Perfect Shoe Review by Jason Binkley
Shopping for shoes that fit my style and comfort is extremely difficult for me. I came across a pair of Responce ll at a local store and it instantly caught my eye. I tried it on and I haven't looked at another shoe since. I like them so much that I rarely wear them. I'm in the construction business and wear through shoes extremely fast. Too fast to risk my Magnums. They may be a little pricey for me but I've had these pair for over five years now. I still wear them regularly and they are still in very good condition. I'm still looking forward to buying my next pair of Magnums. Maybe I'll try a pair of Stealth Force next. (Posted on 2/19/13)
- BARGAIN PRICE, LUXURY COMFORT Review by ADAM
As EMS personnel in New England, I put my boots through a lot. As a former motojournalist and pro motorsports photographer, I did likewise. My current pair of Magnum Response 6.0 boots has been my daily wear on and off the job for nearly 3 years now, and are still in fine fettle no matter how much abuse I put them through.
A wicking lining and breathable construction help keep my feet comfortable in heat and humidity without compromising cold-weather wearability. The soles have held up so well it's hard to tell I've had them for as long as I have -- you can count on these boots to last and last. Mine have a steel safety toe, which is handy even if you don't have to worry about a wrecked automobile crushing your foot like I sometimes do. The tread pattern and sole compound offer long life and excellent traction, even on very slippery substances. And unlike many other boots in its class, these are comfortable right out of the box. I can stay on my feet for hours longer with these boots than with anything else in their price class, using just the stock insoles. Can you say that about your mid-range boots?
These boots have all the quality and features of boots costing twice as much or more, and have lasted well beyond my expectations with no sign of needing replacement yet, They still take a shine beautifully and maintain their shape, comfort and protection 3 years of daily wear and lots of abuse later.
Magnum boots; they just keep getting better and better! (Posted on 1/16/13)
- TOO COMFORTABLE Review by Jeremy
About 6 years ago I took a job as a supervisor at a Plastic Mold Injection company. Lots of running from one end of the building to the other keeping the injection machines running.
I needed a good pair of boots and fast.
After spending a full Saturday and I don't know how many stores visited I must have tried on thousands of work boots. Nothing was to my liking as I have always worn tennis shoes to my Auto mechanics job with a Chrysler Dealer.
Finally I came upon a pair of Magnum Responders at a Florida Dept store.
Oh my gosh!!! My feet where in heaven. I mean, Holy cow did they feel good.
These boots felt like they were custom made for me and only me. I couldn't believe how good they felt. Better yet they were on sale.
Well that job only lasted 6 months as I took a better position as a aircraft sheet metal mechanic. Got layed off 2 years later and put my boots up for a while.
Now I am back to repairing auto's and have been wearing my responses again.
I love these boots for working in.
The soles are oil resistant and the traction great. When and if they ever wear out I'll be back for more. (Posted on 1/16/13)
- Fire? No Problem! Review by james
The Response 6.0’s have been serving me on and off duty for a little over 3 months now. I’d say the wear time on these boots is about 16 hours a week for 13 weeks. This is definitely a light duty wear on these boots. The boots are of average weight in comparison to what’s on the market at 22oz (left weighed 22oz and the right weighed at 21.5oz). The weight does make you feel like you’re wearing boots, but the fit on them when cinched up properly is almost like a running shoe. They are extremely comfortable on the feet and are padded enough that it gives every part of your foot a specific feel of support.
I opted to purchase the 6†rather than that 8†because my duties don’t require me to need such a tall boot. The mid cut boot is perfect for quick maneuvering and still has enough ankle support if you happen to twist a little too far or step on an uneven plain. The mid cut does have 7 eyelets which I felt 6 was sufficient. I never had a cause to use the highest eyelet.
The laces I found out are not fire/heat resistant. One of my laces came undone while in a woods fire and it melted in half. I did have to replace the laces with paracord but the heat didn’t hurt the sole of the shoe. In my opinion laces can be replaced, the bottom of my foot can’t.
The shoe’s construction is very versatile and designed well in my opinion. The leather and nylon construction really does accent each other with the give and take of the boot. I’m a big fan of the solid leather toe construction because in my area of work that’s important especially since you lead into situations with your toes. The 900 denier on either side of your foot gives your foot the ability to spread out when standing and squeeze in when walking. The denier sides really help with conforming the contour of the foot and make it a comfortable standing and walking boot.
The leather also hasn’t dried out on me like some other brands. It’s held its shine through everything I’ve thrown at it. If it ever does dull a little all I had to do was wipe it off with some water and maybe put a little black shoe polish on it and it was right as rain. I even have worn these boots to my office job on occasion with khakis and a polo shirt. None were the wiser that I was wearing “tactical†boots. So it’s a discreet look as well.
The Response II 6.0’s a solid construction that I personally have put the test between walking in knee deep mud trying to get patients out of vehicles to walking in basically fire and charred woods. Each scenario the Response II 6.0 has met the challenge. The only item that I was missing when I was working with the boots was a rear pull-tab. When putting these boots on I did have to untie them to eyelet 5 sometimes 4 to get the boots on. The missing back pull-tab does help when in a rush to throw on your boots. Putting them on was never difficult just a little more time consuming than I would like. (Posted on 1/16/13)
- RESPONSE II 6" Review by JONATHON
I have had this boot for a little over a year now. I have worn it every day since I got it and am very pleased with it. It is very durable and withstood many hunting trips, trips to the shooting range, work, college, and everything else.
The first time I had them out in the rain I was a bit nervous because of the leather on the boot, but it turned out to be okay and no damage was done. The laces are still as good as they were brand new and the traction on the boots is still good.
The traction of the boot is amazing and I am very pleased with its performance. The steel shank in the sole of the shoe gives me very good balance and stability, while also giving me confidence in my ability to kick down a door.
The moisture wicking lining did its job and the nylon mixed with the leather made the boot breathable and gave me a little more confidence in its ability to withstand water. My favorite feature of the boot is the steel shank because of the balance I feel and the confidence it gives me personally. It just feels really strong.
I felt the product was of very good value due to it surviving mud, water, sand, dirt, concrete smashing against them, puddy, chemicals, lead, etc. My only complaint about the boot was that I had to order a half size smaller than I usually am thanks to a warning from a friend. I am usually a size 12 but had to order a size 11.5, which honestly was still just a bit big on me.
All in all, however the boot is excellent and is the exact kind of quality you expect from all magnum products and I would gladly recommend this products to friends, co-workers, and family. (Posted on 1/16/13)
